Founded after the school tragedy of Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, the Koshka Foundation was started to ensure the memory of April 16th is continued in meaningful ways. Dedicated towards impacting school safety and student education initiatives, our vision is a world that strongly believes in the power of youth and awareness as the greatest assets to a safer future.

The mission of Safe and Sound Schools is to empower communities to improve school safety and security through discussion, collaboration, planning and sharing of information, tools, and resources; and to unite our national school community through a purely nonpartisan, grassroots approach to problem solving in our communities and our country.

The Secure Schools Alliance is taking a leadership role in launching a national conversation about the issue of school safety and advocating a course of action for addressing it. This convening of education, industry, public safety, law enforcement, corporate and community leaders will work together to ensure the security of our nation’s schools through research, pilot programs, the promotion of best practices, and the raising of funds.

The Rebels Project  seeks to embrace, support, and connect survivors of mass tragedy and trauma by creating a safe environment to share unique resources, experiences, and provide education surrounding the varying effects of mass trauma.
